Barkey supports Hilfsaktion Noma e.V.
With outside temperatures of up to 50°C, air conditioning of operating theaters is absolutely essential in Niger (AFRICA).
However, the infusions that flow into the little patients’ bodies during the operations are cooled, thereby further reducing their body temperature — not an ideal situation. “The result of the operation crucially dependents on the patient’s body temperature,” says Dr. Ales Stanek, Chief Anaesthesiologist at the Delmenhorst Hospital, who regularly works for Noma in Niger. The solution to the problem comes from Barkey with a warming device that keeps the infusions at body temperature. Barkey representative Andreas Falk (Area Sales Manager at Barkey) donated a device to the Noma project manager Mathis Winkler in Berlin which can now be put into operation during the next surgical operation in January.
